Marcia Metzger, shining star of Saratoga Springs and winner of the 1958 Saratoga High School Yaddo Medal, passed away on November 25. Born November 19, 1940, she has gone on to the realm of Olam HaBa -The World To Come - joining her beloved parents, Robert and Gertrude Polacsek, her favorite aunt, Estelle Lefkowitz, and her brother Jack Polacsek.
Marcia is survived by Irving, her cherished husband of 62 years, her sons Michael and Jordan (Gloria) and her brother and sister-in-law, Allan and Carole Polacsek.
Born in Saratoga Springs, she once told me, “To be born is a miracle, to be born in the United States and Saratoga is a miracle. To be born into the Polacsek family was a gift.
She loved bridge and achieved the status of Life-master.
She and Irving were one of those rare couples that could have a great relationship and also work together, for many years, in construction and real estate.
She was active in charitable causes, notably United Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York, where she was a member of the Board of Directors, and the Endowment Board of Governors.
She was the first president NYS Women’s Council of Realtors, and
past-President of both Soroptimist International of Saratoga Springs and Saratoga County Board of Realtors.

Funeral services will be held on at 1 o'clock Thursday, December 1st at Congregation Shaari Tefille, 84 Weibel Ave., Saratoga Springs. (Vaccinations are required to enter the building).
The family will be sitting Shiva at the home of Allan & Carole Polacsek at 7pm on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday evening.
