Marilyn Constance (Gaynor) Worona, age 92, beloved wife of the late William Worona passed away Monday, September 13, 2021 with her loving family by her side. Marilyn, the only child of Morris and Frances (Rubin) Gaynor was born on June 28, 1929 in Poughkeepsie, NY. She enjoyed her childhood with wonderful family and friends and met the love of her life William Worona at Sylvan Lake, NY. They shared 54 incredibly beautiful married years together, making a lovely home and raising a beautiful family. Among the many things that Marilyn enjoyed were Broadway shows, opera, ballet, playing mahjong, being with family, especially her grandchildren and traveling. She was particularly fond of state and national parks and was always proud to let you know the many parks she had visited. She volunteered and planned many trips and excursions over the years for the Brandeis Organization. Marilyn loved her time spent learning at the Marist Center for Lifetime Studies.
Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend. Survivors include her loving children: Howard (Laura)Worona of Natick and Jay Worona (Sandi, who she considered to be her daughter) of Slingerlands, her adoring grandchildren: Arielle (Phillip) Galanty, Jordan, Adena, Lilli (Dave) and Evan (Kate)Worona and cherished great-grandchildren: Naiya and Sadie Galanty as well as nieces, nephews and special friends.
Marilyn’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude and thanks to those at Daughter’s of Sarah Nursing Home in Albany, New York that provided compassionate and loving care for Marilyn, especially during her final weeks.
A graveside funeral will take place on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 11:00am at the Temple Beth-El Cemetery in Poughkeepsie, NY. Due to the upcoming holiday of Yom Kippur, Shiva will not be observed at this time.
