With deep profound sadness we announce the passing of Marvin L. Wulf on April 9th, 2022. He passed peacefully at his residence in Troy. Born in Brooklyn on February 4th, 1925, to the late William and Lillian Wulf. Educated at Colby Prep in Brooklyn, the University of North Carolina and graduated from Hofstra University. He left the University of North Carolina to proudly serve his country during World War II as a pharmacist mate first class to help the wounded and sick. Upon his return from the Navy, he started with the family company, Wultex Men’s Manufacturing; and eventually took over the company from his father and uncles until closing in 1988. Married to his college sweetheart, Sandra Steier Wulf, for over 40 wonderful years until her passing in 1989. Given a second chance in life, he met and married V.M. VanDerhyden “Pinky”. They were married 32 years until the present. They brought out the best in each other and delighted in happiness and love.
Marvin is survived by his son, Steve Wulf, daughter, Karen Wulf, grandchildren, Bo (Rachel), John (Abby), and twin granddaughters Elizabeth and Eve. Great grump-pa to Casey and Jane. He is also survived by his niece Joan (Sid) Schneider, Nephew Carl (June) Silverberg and many grand nieces and nephews; Lauren, Beth, and Blayne, as well as sister-in-law Kristin (Tony) Bruno and Marianne (Teddy) VanDerhyden. Also, his good friend Robert Cushing, who was like a second son to him. He was predeceased by his loving sister, Regina Silverberg (Ben). Nephew David Silverberg, daughter-in-law Jane Wulf and sister-in-law Mary Alice (Glenn) Tabakian. And his special Norfolk Terrier, Archie.
Marvin had a passion for competitive sports, excelling in baseball, skiing, tennis, and golf-he could rightly claim two holes-in-one. His Florida golf friends thought so much of his swing that they called him “Smoothie.” He loved great music, especially the jazz of Sinatra and Basie: Ella and Sarah.
He was a member of the Troy Country Club for over 35 years, and a member of Pine Lakes Country Club of Florida. Marvin served as a trustee of the Troy Savings Bank for 40 years and did his fiduciary duty to the people of Troy proudly. Marvin lived a full 97 years filled with great adventures and the love of family and friends.
