Albany – Maurice M. Benno, 90, passed away peacefully on Friday April 17, 2026, (1 Iyar 5786) surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Baghdad, Iraq, Mr. Benno emigrated to Iran, Israel, Pennsylvania, Montreal and finally to Albany, NY, in the mid-1960s. He has contributed to Albany civic and Jewish society for over 60 years.

Maurice is the son of the late Zalmon and Marcelle Benno. He is survived by his cherished daughters, Heather (Juan Ferrufino) Benno, Adina Benno, and Dara Benno; his beloved grandchildren, Rozel and Jamila; his brother, Elli (Suzanne) Benno; and his sister, Shoshana (Latif) Gabi. He was predeceased by his brother, Hertzel Benno.

Funeral services for Maurice will be held on Monday morning April 20th at 11:00 am at Congregation Ohav Shalom, 113 Krumkill Rd. in Albany. Burial will follow at Ohav Shalom Cemetery on Western Ave.
