Miriam (Hershenhorn) Swyer

Miriam Swyer, age 82 of Albany passed away suddenly on Sunday January 2, 2022 at home. Miriam was born in Albany, NY and was the daughter of the late Raymond and Bessie Hershenhorn.  After graduating from Albany High School, Miriam continued her studies at Harcum College in Bryn Mawr, PA. graduating with an Associate Degree in Medical Technology. Then she went to work in the Hematology Department at Albany Medical Center. After marrying Paul Swyer and taking time off to raise three Children, Miriam went back to work for the Swyer Insurance Agency till she retired.

Miriam was an avid cook and made excellent brisket & soups. She also loved to travel to exotic ports of call with her husband Paul and later with friends and family. Miriam was a member of Congregation Beth Emeth.

Miriam is survived by her 3 sons, Mark (Debra), Stephen (Jackie), and Robert (Susan), 5 Grand Children; Caitlan, Nathan, Rachel, Marissa, Kallie and the Late Shaina. She is also survived by her brother Sam and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She is predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Paul and her sister Barbara.

Services will be held Thursday January 6, 2022, at the Mendleson Chapel at Congregation Beth Emeth Cemetery, 53 Turner Lane Loudonville NY, commencing at 1:00PM. A Covid mask wearing requirement is observed inside the Chapel.  A short Graveside Service will follow.

Those healthy individuals wishing to pay their respects, may do so at the family residence immediately following the funeral.

One evening of Shiva will be held at the family residence on Thursday January 6, 2022, starting at 6:30PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes contributions to be made in Miriam’s memory to Congregation Beth Emeth Sisterhood, The American Heart Association or the local Charity of your choice.
