Muriel (Schur) Goodman

Albany - Muriel Goodman, 97, died on January 18, 2023 at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center in Albany, NY, due to complications of COVID-19. She was born in Queens, NY, the youngest of three daughters, to Abraham and Fannie Schur.

 Muriel grew up in the New York metropolitan area and earned her bachelor’s degree at Queens College, after which she worked for many years as a bookkeeper. Muriel enjoyed sewing and quilting, traveling, playing bridge, and attending the New York City Ballet in Saratoga Springs. She was married for nearly 55 years to Alvin Goodman, until his death in 2002. Muriel and Al eventually settled in Albany, NY in 1960, where they lived until relocating to Boynton Beach, FL in 1998. Muriel returned to Albany in 2018 to be closer to family.

 Muriel was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her sisters (Natalie Schur and Edith Karlin), and her daughter, Carol Goodman. She is survived by a daughter, Gail (Louis) Snitkoff, and a son, Fred (MJ) Goodman, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

 Muriel’s family expresses their sincere thanks to the staff at the Massry Residence and the Nursing Center for their kind, attentive, and compassionate care.

 A memorial service will be conducted at the convenience of the family.
