SARASOTA, Fla. Myron "Mike" Marshall Serling, 92, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, May 15, 2021, in Sarasota, Fla. He was born in Albany on October 27, 1928, to the late Sarah Katz Serling and Charles Serling. Mike entered the U.S. Navy directly out of high school at age 17. He attended Syracuse University and the University of Buffalo where he received his D.D.S. While in dental school he married the love of his life, Albany native Millicent Levine. He set up a dental practice in Albany and three years later returned to U.B., receiving advanced training in orthodontia. He and Millie returned to Albany where they raised their three children and Mike set up his ortho-dontic practice. As well as his regular patients he was proud to initiate care to the children from the Center for Disability Services. As his practice grew, he brought in partners Tom Decker, Mick Sbuttoni and Lou Boghosian as well as staff whom he admired and counted as friends as well as colleagues. He was active in the Optimist Club, the Third District Dental Society, the Knights of Pythias and the Soap Box Derby. He also volunteered his dental skills at the V.A. Hospital. Mike was beloved by his friends for his kindness, integrity, and sense of humor. He was always up for an adventure, be it in a saddle, on skis, with a fishing pole or trimming the sails of his boat on Lake George. He enjoyed his retirement years in Saratoga Springs and Longboat Key, Fla. In retirement, he rediscovered his artistic talents through sculpting and built a cedar strip canoe with woven seats. He was cherished by his children and adored by his grandchildren, and he delighted in their wide-ranging interests. Along with his wife, he is survived by his children, Judith Serling-Sturm and her husband Peter Sturm, Andrew Serling and his wife Ellen Serling, and Robert Serling and his wife Jill Serling; and his grandchildren, Sam Sturm and his wife Lauren Cohen, Zak Sturm and his wife Teta Johnson, Augusta Sturm, Spencer Serling, Ethan Serling, Austin Serling and Caroline Serling. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Howard Serling and his great-granddaughter Leni Sturm.
