Obituary

Davie, FL – Nathan Goldberg, 99, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 4, 2023. Born in Albany, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph and Dora (Gamarnik) Goldberg; his brother was the late Morris Engleman, and sister was the late Anna Engleman.

Nathan married the love of his life, Selma Weisberg Goldberg on November 22, 1945. He proudly served our country with the rank of Ensign in The United States Navy during WWII. Following the war Nathan became a member of The Jewish War Veterans, serving in many roles including Post Commander; Commander of the Department of New York; National Judge Advocate and National Commander. Nathan is a graduate of Siena College and Albany Law School.

Nathan is survived by his wife of 78 years, Selma Goldberg; his daughter, Janet Goldberg McEnery and her children, Patrick, and Annie; his son and daughter in-law,  Larry and Michele Brittelli Goldberg and their two sons, Joshua, and Brandon; his two nieces, Ellen Weisberg Joseph, and Risa Weisberg Horst; and his long-term caregiver, Marlene Ingram. He was also predeceased by his son-in-law, John T. McEnery.

As a prominent Attorney and CPA, Nate founded his law and accounting practices in Albany eventually partnering with Robert Gottheim in the law practice and Harry Vadney in accounting. 

As president of Congregation Ohav Shalom, Nate played an instrumental role in helping the synagogue establish its financial and organizational foundation so it could become a thriving center for Jewish spiritual and community life.

Funeral services will be held on Friday September 8th at 12:00 pm at The Ohav Shalom Cemetery, 519 Church Rd. in Guilderland, where he will be laid to rest with full military honors.
