Neil J. Gold Obituary

Albany – Neil J. Gold, 81, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 30, 2024 at Albany Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Born in Albany, he is the son of the late Henry and Sara Gold.

Neil is survived by his loving wife of over 55 years, Harriet Gold; his children, Yael (Steve) Holand, Samuel Gold, Rebecca Gold (Brian) and Alex (Jen) Gold; his brothers, Sanford (the late Barbara) Gold, and Rabbi Baruch (Rananah) Gold; and his grandchildren, Sara, Ethan, and Noah. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Neil was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Ruth Schiffrin.

Neil’s funeral was held on January 1st at Temple Israel in Albany. Burial followed at Temple Israel Cemetery in Guilderland. A recording of the funeral services can be viewed at tialbany.org/livestream

A virtual shiva will be held via zoom between Noon and 2 pm on Sunday, January 5th and between 5 pm and 7 pm on Monday, January 6th. Please contact the family for the link.

An in-person shiva will be held at Yael and Steve Holand’s home in Rockland County, NY on Sunday, January 5th from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm and on Monday, January 6th from 1 – 3 pm and 6 – 8 pm.
