It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Bennett Gross, age 76 of Slingerlands NY, who passed away on October 13, 2022 at the Albany Medical Center in the arms of his beloved daughter. Born on June 21, 1946, to Ida and Morris Gross, Paul was a devoted father to his three children, Matt, Allen and Elizabeth: a caring grandfather to his two wonderful grandchildren, Reva and Leah, and a loving husband to Lois Gross until her passing and then Faina Ada Gross until her passing as well. Over the 33 years of their loving marriage, Paul was always a devoted husband to Ada. Their special bond was apparent to all who saw him constantly by her side. 

 

Anyone who was privileged to know Paul is mourning his loss. Paul was a model of courage and strength. He was best known for his gentleness, kindness, and loving soul. 

 

The Capital District was his community and he invested his life in it.  Paul owned Delaware Service in Albany where he fixed more than just automobiles with his graciousness and knack for diplomacy.  Paul was a master Gardener with a degree in horticulture and in the garden of his beautiful home in Slingerlands, his patience and delicate touch was on full display. The fruits of his labor will now be looked over by his granddaughters who studied diligently under his tutelage since they were old enough to work a trowel. He was an avid Mets fan, never missing a game. Judaism was important to him and he loved celebrating Jewish holidays with his family. He never let his aggressive disease interfere with living his best life and continued to do all things he loved despite his illness.

 

Paul’s gentle and kind nature warmed those around him and gave comfort and strength that will manifest itself for many generations to come.

 

Paul was the greatest father and best friend to Elizabeth and it was her honor and privilege to fight cancer alongside Paul since the minute he was diagnosed to the last breath he took. 

 

He is survived by his dear brother David J. Gross (Lynn) of Pardes Hanna, Israel.  His Aunt, Eva Shatkin of Manhattan, New York. His loving niece Marissa Gross Yarm of Israel. His beloved cousin and best friend Diana Mcleod (Bob) of Greensboro, North Carolina. His children Matt, Allen and Elizabeth; darling granddaughters Reva and Leah and many cousins and other loved ones. 

 

His daughter, Elizabeth Gross would like to send her deepest appreciation to Marissa Gross Yarm for her diligence in assisting to get Paul the care he deserved. Mitchell Torres (Miami, Florida) for his guidance, Dr. Maria Cabanillas MD, Dr. G. Brandon Gunn MD, Dr. Edward Iskhakov MD, Dr. Padma Sripada MD, Dr. Rahul Ravilla MD and other providers who helped prolong his life. To the Bethlehem Chabad for their loving support. Thank you so very much to all who have provided support and love throughout Paul’s battle with cancer.

 

Shiva will be at the home of Elizabeth Gross starting on Wednesday October 19, 2022.
