Green Island – Paula L. Soch, 72, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, N.Y., with her loving family by her side. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Sidney and Betty (Sperber) Retig.

Paula was a proud graduate of Albany High School. She worked as a Work Skills Instructor at Albany County ARC, where she dedicated many years before retiring.

A devoted supporter of her children’s activities and athletics, Paula volunteered with the Latham/North Colonie Youth Baseball Association’s ladies auxiliary and could often be found cheering from the sidelines. Most summer evenings, she was at a baseball or softball field supporting her family. She especially loved spending time at the beach or by the pool with family and friends.

Paula is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Jacob “Jack” Soch; her children, Mathew (Cristen) Soch and Shira Soch; and her adored granddaughters, Emerson, Waverly, and Presley. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Sondra Levine.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate team at the Latham Fresenius Dialysis Center for their kind and thoughtful care.

Those wishing to honor Paula’s memory may make a contribution to a charity of their choice.
