Richard Farkas

Richard Farkas, 75, passed away at his home on November 3rd 2021.  He was surrounded by his loving family.  Richard was born in New York City and moved to Yonkers, NY as a small child.  He attended Yonkers public schools.  He graduated from Richmond College on Staten Island with a Bachelor’s degree in political science.  He then received a Masters degree in Public Health from NYU. 

His life will forever be cherished by his survivors: Shera Farkas, his wife; his son Benjamin Farkas and his wife Julie;  his son Joseph Farkas and his wife Jenn ; his sister Sunni Farkas and her husband Bob Treitler and his niece Sinerity Giloni. Richard cherished and adored his five grandchildren: Ethan Farkas, Emma Farkas, Ava Farkas, Ellie Farkas and Keira Farkas.

Richard loved to travel and to collect lighthouses.  He combined those hobbies,  spending many vacations traveling to remote locations on the eastern seaboard to visit lighthouses in person.

Richard moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico two years ago to spend more time with family.  He previously lived his whole life in New York and New Jersey, including over thirty years in the Capital District of New York.

Richard considered his biggest accomplishment in life to be having raised two intelligent, highly effective, devoted and loving sons. He was predeceased in death by his parents, Al and Florence Farkas, parents in law, Morris and Margot Giloni and his sister Bobbi Whitby.

Burial will be at the Temple Beth El Cemetery in Troy, NY. Memorial contributions can be made to the Lewy Body Disease Association or Michael J. Fox  Foundation
