Roberta “Bobbi” Salati (née Handler), born April 21, 1931, passed into eternal life surrounded by her family on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. Beloved daughter to the late Abe and Clara Handler; sister to Evelyn (Gerry) Sturn, and the late Irving Handler; mother to David (Patty) Salati, Lisa Cooper, and Steven (Mary) Salati; grandmother to Mark Cooper Jr., Shana (Justin) Yerry, Devan Salati, and Nino Salati; and great-grandmother to Peyton Yerry.
Bobbi was a graduate of Philip Schuyler High School in Albany. She lived in Colonie, N.Y. for most of her life. She retired from NYS Office for the Aging. She was a longtime member of Temple Gates of Heaven in Schenectady, N.Y.
She loved dancing – particularly the jitterbug – anywhere (and everywhere) music played. She was known for her spunk, infectious laugh, and hilarious honesty. She was an avid bowler, a longtime New York Yankees fan, religious Jeopardy viewer, and best of all, No. 1 fan of all her grandchildren.
Bobbi’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the compassionate staff at Marjorie Doyle Rockwell Center and Eddy Village Green in Cohoes for their incredible care the past few years.
Bobbi, Mom and Grandma (our “Queen”) will truly be missed by all, but her love and memories will live on forever.
A memorial service will be held at Levine Memorial Chapel in Albany on Saturday, October 2, at 11 a.m.
