Albany - Robin Shapiro, 68 a lifelong resident of Albany, NY passed away suddenly in her sleep on Saturday, October 05, 2024 at her home. She is the daughter of Betty Shapiro and the late Norman “Norm” Shapiro.
Born in Albany, NY on February 10, 1956 Robin attended Albany public schools and after graduating high school, worked for the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles. She later transferred to the New York State Department of Tax and Finance where she worked in the data processing unit until she retired at age 55 after over 30 years of service. Robin was an avid bingo player for many years and spent every Wednesday afternoon playing bingo with her mother Betty.
Robin is survived by her mother, Betty Shapiro; her younger brother, Michael Shapiro; her sister-in-law Sharon Shapiro; her nephew Timothy (Jennifer) Shapiro; and grand-nephew, Alexander. She was predeceased by her father Norman Shapiro; her older brother, David Shapiro and great-nephew, Ryan Eric.
Memorial Contributions in Robin’s name can be made to Congregation Beth Emeth, 100 Academy Rd. Albany, NY 12208.
Funeral services for Robin will be held on Wednesday October 9th at 10:30 am at The Independent Benevolent Cemetery, 260 Fuller Rd. in Albany.
