Ruth Beer M.D.

Ruth Beer, MD, MBA, aged 73, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Mt Sinai Hospital in Miami Beach, FL. Born in Haifa, Israel on August 12, 1949, she is the daughter of Shmuel and Luba Winterfeld.

Ruth was a graduate of the Reali High School in Haifa, Israel, after which she served 3 years in the Israeli military in communications.  She graduated from Brussels University School of Medicine in Belgium in 1977 and completed her residency in radiology in Mt Sinai Hospital in NYC.  She moved to the capital district area in 1981 where she practiced radiology and created the first mammography unit of the capital district and was co-founder of Community Care Radiology.  She retired in 2017 following a lung transplant due to pulmonary fibrosis.  She remained active and lived in the capital district area alongside her husband, also a physician, until recently.

Ruth was always cheerful and pragmatic.  She was a happy person, extroverted, loved to meet new people and connect with them.  Her friends and family always appreciated her outspoken honesty and felt the strength of her love for them.

Ruth is survived by her children, Omri and Jonathan; her daughters-in-law Manami and Jackie; her beloved grandchildren, Noam and Mayu; her sister Michal (Ebril), and her husband of 51 years, Yoram.

Funeral services will be held at Congregation Beth Emeth in Albany on Friday January 20th, 2023, at 12:00pm.  All who knew her are welcome to attend.
