Sandra "Sandi" Storfer Obituary

Sandra “Sandi” Storfer born April 25, 1942 passed away on December 30, 2024. As with everything in life, Sandi did things on her own terms and died peacefully in her home in Florida on the morning of December 30th.

Sandi is the daughter of Annette and David Herbst, Granddaughter of Rebecca and Jacob Sheinbloom. She is survived by her brother Edward, son Andrew, daughter Amy and grandson Eli.

Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Sandi moved to the Albany area in 1967. Sandi was the luckiest person in the world because she had so many people in her life that cared for her very, very deeply. She had the “gift of gab” and made life-long friends, instantly. Andrea met her at age 11 and was her loyal friend for 71 years, Sharon met her at age 14 and they were friends for- 68 years, Linda – at least 50 years, Barbara – at least 50 years, Gail, Nancy, Bea, Sandy, June, and the list goes on and on. While she could be a little “too” honest at times, everyone that knew her knew she had a heart of gold. That is what drew them in. Sandi was a brilliant woman and not only entered college at the age of 15, but also went on to become one of the first females to seek a graduate degree in Microbiology at Brooklyn College. After getting a MS in Biology and teaching junior high for several years, she went on to become a full-time mom. Then, she earned a MBA at SUNY Albany to pursue a second career in accounting. She successfully rose in the ranks at the New York State Department of Tax and Finance until her retirement in 1994. While Sandi’s true loves in life were her family and friends and her dogs Nikki and Ivy, she also loved Broadway shows, theatre, modern dance, figure skating and ballet. She remained very active socially up until the day of her passing, including weekly Mah Jong and bridge games, season theatre tickets, and a calendar filled with breakfasts and lunches with friends. Sandi was a true force to be reckoned with, and she will be sorely missed by all the lives she touched when she was on this planet.

Funeral services will be held graveside on Friday, January 3rd at 9:30 AM at Congregation Beth Emeth Cemetery, 58 Turner Lane in Loudonville.
