Niskayuna - Selma Sahr, age 97 of Cornelius Ave. Niskayuna, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 5, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Sahr was a lifelong Schenectady resident and a member of Congregation Beth Israel in Schenectady. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed being with her family and friends.
Selma was predeceased by her husband Harry Sahr and her daughter Linda Sahr Weingarten. She is survived by her daughter, Julie Woodland (Ken) of Belmont, Massachusetts, four grandchildren; Allison (Sean) and Sarah Weingarten and Jonathan (Vicky) and Gregory (Kathryn) Woodland and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by her nephew, Dr. Alan Lessner (Kathy) and his family of Gainesville Florida, as well as numerous other nephews and nieces.
Selma’s family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to, Cindy Velaidam, her caregiver this past year for the wonderful care and dedication to Selma and our family.
Funeral services for Selma will be held graveside at Beth Israel Cemetery, 308 Abbottsford Rd. Schenectady, NY 12304, on Tuesday April 7, 2026 at 12:00pm.
Those wishing to remember Selma may donate to Congregation Beth Israel or The Linda Sahr Weingarten Scholarship at Russell Sage College or to the charity of their choice.
A period of mourning will be observed at the Woodland residence, in Belmont MA. Please call the funeral home for details.
