Albany – Selma Symansky, 85, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2022 at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home. Born in Schenectady on July 25, 1937 she is the daughter of the late William and Minnie Cohen.
Selma attended Schenectady schools and graduated from the former Nott Terrace High School in 1955. She would go on to earn her B.S. degree in Accounting from Simmons College in 1959. Selma worked as an accountant for Sloane-Kettering Institute, The Museum of Modern Art and Popular Library.
In 1971, she returned to The Capital District where she lived with her husband Leonard. She worked part-time for many years at The New York State Legislature and The New York State Association of Foreign Language Teachers. Selma was a member of Congregation Beth Abraham Jacob, The American Association of Retired Teachers and Vanguard.

The family would like to thank the staff of the red unit of Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center especially Anna Gillespie, Danielle and Connie for their caring and compassionate care for Selma throughout her stay.
Selma was predeceased by her beloved husband Leonard Symansky in 2019. She is survived by her cousin Stephen (Karen) Simmons and several other cousins.
Funeral services for Selma will be held at 11:00am on Monday December 26th at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Ave. in Albany. Burial will follow at Beth Abraham Jacob Cemetery, 1620 Western Ave. in Guilderland.
