Colonie - Sheri Woren born May 4,1955 to the late Robert and Rita Lamer in Brooklyn, New York. Sheri was married to the love of her life Ira Woren in 1984 and happily spent 37 wonderful years together with him.
She was the younger sister of Alan (Aileen) Lamer and a close cousin to so many family members near and far. Sheri and Ira moved up to Albany shortly after their marriage for Ira’s work and not too much later their only Daughter Rachael (Rob) Schertzer was born. Sheri was the grandmother of Noah Schertzer and aunt to Craig (Risa) Lamer, Jacqui (Anthony) DeRosa and Derek Lamer. Sheri was the daughter in law of Lila Woren and was the sister-in-law of Fran Schwartz (Tim Leahy), Jayne (Michael) Delucia, and Michael (Cheryl) Woren. She had so many friends that she spoke to in a daily basis but closest to her was her friend Meryl Einbinder who she met on a bus so many years going to work and her dear cousin Mindy Scheer who she grew up with.
Sheri spent many of her summers growing up in the Catskills and often reminisces about all of the amazing time she spent there. Most of her life was spent in the banking business at Key Bank except for a small amount of time working at the Beth Abe Pre-School where she truly loved every moment being with the kids. Because of this it was no surprise that Noah adored her and constantly joked about the expected baby (“Baby Taco”). She also worked for a few years at Fresh Market where she so enjoyed chatting with all the customers and being so social.
The funeral will take place on Monday, September 18th at Temple Israel, 600 New Scotland Avenue, Albany NY at 2 PM with burial to follow at the Congregation Beth Abraham Jacob Cemetery on Western Avenue.
