Shirley Wagenheim Obituary

 

 

Shirley Wagenheim, born June 3, 1928 in Newark, NJ. died on Monday, September 20, 2021 at the Eddy Village Green in Cohoes, NY after three meaningful years as a resident of House 5. Prior to that she resided at the Beverwyck Independent Living in Slingerlands, NY   Shirley was a graduate of Weequahic High School, and   had been employed at New Jersey Bell Telephone Company after graduation until motherhood, then was a lifelong homemaker. She resided for many years in Union, New Jersey and was an active member of Temple Israel in Union under the rabbinate of Rabbi Meyer Korbman. She had been an active member of the Sisterhood and put together the annual fundraising calendar for the community. She was very proud of being from New Jersey and often said,” You can take the girl out of NJ but you can’t take the Jersey out of the girl”

 

. Her parents were Max Ehrenkranz and Anna Drik Ehrenkranz of Newark, NJ.

 She was predeceased by her husband, William Wagenheim after 61 years of marriage and .by her brother, Harry Ehrenkranz. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Diane Adele Wagenheim. Shirley leaves a daughter, Susan Debra Rosenberg and son-in-law Michael Rosenberg, two grandchildren, Matthew Neil Weiss of Sedona, Arizona and Gregory Nathan Weiss of Delmar. 

 

Funeral and shiva will be private. Notes of condolences may be sent to Susie Rosenberg and Family, 15 Oakwood Place, Delmar, NY 12054. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice Foundation https://donate.givetocommunityhospice.org/
