Albany - Stephen Thomas Olender, 79, passed away at St. Peter’s Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Albany N.Y. September 19, 1946 to Mildred and Alexander Olender, and was a life-long resident of Albany County.
Stephen was a graduate of Albany High School, attended Boston University, and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers and the Benevolent Order of Elks. He was a retiree from the NYS Department of Labor where he was employed as an Osha Inspector. Stephen was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, and always enjoyed being behind the wheel of his classic BMW.
Stephen is survived by his sister, Sheila Hackel, his nephew Christopher Hackel, and his good friend, William VanDyne.
Funeral services for Stephen will be held on Wednesday March 11th at 1:00 pm at The Independent Benevolent Cemetery, 260 Fuller Rd. in Albany.
