Albany – Steven Abrookin, 70, passed away on Sunday February 25, 2024 at Albany Medical Center. Born in Albany, he is the son of Florence Abrookin and the late Emanuel “Manny Abrookin.
Steve graduated with his bachelor’s degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and would go on to earn his master’s degree from Northeastern University in Boston, where he met his wife, Linda, with whom he had two children in Houston. He worked in healthcare and consulting most of his career.
Steve loved talking sports & politics, enjoyed watching old movies and taking walks around the neighborhood to chat with neighbors and strangers alike. He will be remembered by those closest to him for his amazing memory, his kind heartedness, his sweet tooth and his ability to strike up a conversation with absolutely anyone.
Steve is survived by his mother, Florence Abrookin; his sisters, Bonnie (Alan), Marcia (Dave) and Rebecca (Ronnie); and his children, Heather (Stephen) and David (Cindy).
Those wishing to remember Steve in a special way can make memorial contributions in his name to The Lone Soldier Center.
Funeral services for Steven will be held graveside on Tuesday February 27th at 10:30 am at Temple Israel Cemetery, 1620 Western Ave. in Guilderland.
