Clifton Park - Thomas John Hunt passed away peacefully on July 8th 2025 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on November 28, 1954, in Teaneck, New Jersey, to Edythe Woitschic and David Hunt. Thom was the fifth of seven children: David (deceased) and Marina Hunt of Green Lake, NJ, Roger and Deb Hunt of St. Louis, MO, Mary Hunt of Englewood, NJ, Peter (deceased) and Marge Hunt of Whitingham, VT, and Robert Hunt of Bergen County, NJ, and Anne and Robert (deceased) Doherty of Teaneck, NJ and many nieces and nephews.
Thom is survived by his spouse, Steven Ostroff. Thom met Steve in Albany, NY, and spent the last 32 years building a life together with his stepsons Matthew, Adam, and Adam’s wife Janna, and Steve and Thom’s six grandchildren: Madison, Jack, Jordan, Henry, Carter, and Hunter.
Before Steven, Thom had a 16-year relationship with the Reverend Paul Ables, who died in March of 1992. Paul served as the Reverend of the Washington Square Methodist Episcopal Church in the Greenwich Village area of New York City.
Thom started out by finding and selling antiques and collectibles. He then worked for Magic Pan, part of Quaker Oats, and then at the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan for eight years, as an office service manager. He finished his career at the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York in Telecommunications for 11 years, where he retired.
Thom was a collector, he had the talent to find the gem from all the items for sale. For Thom, it was always the find not the possession. He was a man of many talents, which he spent his life pursuing them.
Services will be held privately by the family.
