Todd Kagan Obituary

Albany - Todd Kagan, 72, passed away suddenly on July 9th. He was a gentle soul with an incredibly kind heart. Todd was born in Albany, New York on July 15th, 1951. He is the son of the late Mayer and Ethel Kagan .

Todd graduated from NYU and worked for the state of New York until his retirement. He was an incredible blues harmonica player and can even be found on some albums from the eighties. His favorite place to visit was Thatcher Park since he was a little boy. He often disappeared there to read or listen to music. Todd was also a major Yankees fan, so he'd stock up on snacks and watch the games. He was the most amazing cook and had a major green thumb. Through the years, he grew all kinds of plants and flowers with great pride. But what brought him the greatest joy was being a dad. It came naturally to him and there are friends of his daughter Lori that thought of Todd as a father figure. In recent years, he cared for his elderly mother, Ethel with whom he shared an incredible bond. He often joked that he was proud to be a mama's boy. Everything he touched turned to gold because he was such a good man.

Todd is predeceased by his beloved sister, Faye Hanfling. He is survived by his daughter, Lori (Adam) Perri; his sister Barbara (Melvyn) Ciment; his sister Risa Kagan (Richard Stern); along with an abundance of family and friends. Todd will sorely be missed.

Funeral services will be held graveside on Thursday July 11th at 12:30 pm at The Beth Abraham Jacob Cemetery, 1620 Western Ave. in Guilderland.
