Yvonne Simon died suddenly on September 28, 2022 at her home in Fort Myers, Florida with her loving husband of 62 years, Joseph by her side. 

She was born on May 1, 1938 in Bandung, Indonesia to Kurt and Parachiva Myers.  Her family fled Holland from a Japanese concentration camp during the Holocaust. She came to the United States at the age of 8 with her parents and brother Bernard Meyers, who currently resides in Binghamton, New York.

Yvonne met Joe while he was attending Syracuse University and she was working at the college’s Deans Office and attending night school. It was love at first sight and they were married on August 28, 1960.

After their marriage, they moved to Loudonville, New York where she and Joe raised their family.  She was the loving mother of 3 children, Mark (Tracey) Simon, Sheryl (Leonard) Motto, and Scott (Jill) Simon. She was the proud Nanny of 7 grandchildren and a great grandchild on the way; Jenna, Alexa, Kolby (Krista), Tara (Lars), Rachel, Jake and Amanda.

Yvonne enjoyed tennis, bocci and playing cards with her family and friends. She loved to cook and bake and was best known for her homemade Sherry Cake, which was devoured by her grandkids as soon as it came out of the oven.  She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and neighbors.

Funeral services and interment will be held on Sunday, October 9th at 12:30 at the Ohav Shalom Cemetery, Church Road, Guilderland, New York. Mourning will be observed immediately following the services through Sunday evening at The Schuyler Commons Apartment Clubhouse, 1 Broomshop Lane Latham, NY. 

The funeral services will be streamed on the Levine Memorial Chapel Facebook page.
